About me:

As the wife of a pastor and full-time child care worker, people and time are valuable to me. Working in both of these areas are challenging but also rewarding. Helping people with their daily lives is one of my strongest passions. The church we pastor holds benefits, volunteers at food pantries, and helps the community in every way possible.

I am a former college graduate at Jefferson College and received my Associate of Arts Degree in 2011, and am currently enrolled at Missouri Baptist University in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and minor in Business Administration. In 2010 I earned a GPA of 4.0, being put on the Dean’s List. Math and working with numbers has always interested me.

Working as a Revenue Accounting Analyst at United Van Lines broadened my knowledge in the Accounting department. As an analyst, I multi-tasked and was introduced to new computer systems that gave me additional experience with this type of work. I have gotten to work in this successful company while getting to learn how to work with other people.

Education, learning, and being active in school are important aspects to me. While attending High School, I was in Acappella, swing, and Madrigal choir. We performed at nursing homes, and churches all throughout the year while also performing at Disney World every two years.

Dear Mrs. Sanchez:

Thank you for your interest in our newest vehicle, the Honda Pilot. It was a pleasure talking with you and I would love to tell you more about all the safety features this vehicle has to offer in comparison to the many leading utility vehicles.

The Honda Pilot was voted 2013 TOP SAFETY PICK. It is equipped with advanced passive safety features, to assure the safety of the driver and its passengers. The Honda Pilot comes with many airbags throughout the vehicle, to protect all passengers during any type of collision.

This is an economic SUV with the mpg in the city on average with 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. Not only does it have great gas mileage for a small SUV, it also has 87 cubic feet of cargo space, which will be perfect for a large family like yours to bring along strollers and any other large items you may need to carry. If you, as the consumer, can think of any option extra you would be interested in, we can discuss adding additional features to suit you better.

Thanks again for inquiring about the Honda Pilot. I would love to meet with you for a test drive at your earliest convenience. Our office opens as early as 7:00 am and we stay open until 8:00 pm, seven days a week. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions or concerns. Dear Mr. Chapman:

It has been a pleasure to have you as a customer, and Saint Louis County Water Supply looks forward to continuing to provide you with great service. In that respect, we understand that there has been a substantial increase in your water bill over the last few months.

We have done everything within our capabilities to determine if there were any inaccuracies or a fault in the lines to cause an error in the usage amount on your water bill. On November 5, 2013, we sent a technician to your residence to inspect for leaks in the water lines, a water line break, or anything potentially damaged. Unfortunately, we were not able to find any malfunctions within the water lines or the meters. We are sorry to inform you that the bill must be paid in full. Now we can help with setting up a payment plan until the bill is paid off.

We will continue to monitor the situation in the billing periods to come for further drastic increases or decreases in usage. In the event that great fluctuations continue, we will be back out to re-inspect the lines.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance to you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at my direct line above.

Thank you,

Email/Memo Energy reduction in the workforce

TO:  All fellow employees
FROM: Megan Crum, MC
DATE: October 28, 2013
SUBJECT: Reducing Energy Consumption

The committee has been charged with developing a plan to reduce energy consumption by 35 percent. This will not only reduce energy consumption but also save on money. I think that the company’s image might be enhanced in the following two ways.

Employees would only be allowed usage of the internet if it was work related. This would motivate employees to create more production. With no personal time of usage of internet, computers will then go into hibernation mode resulting in conserving energy. Personal usage of the internet will only be allowed on break time.

Employees would only be allowed usage of copy machines if it was work related. Administrators would be authorized passcodes to the copy machines to keep track of the items being printed or copied off. This will not only save paper and ink, but also reduce energy consumption.

Both of these suggestions will more than likely reduce energy consumption more than 35%. If we are going to put one or more of these suggestions into practice, we need to make sure we are getting positive feedback and results.

Hello Team,

To help reduce energy consumption in our workplace, two things will be in effect as of November 11, 2013.

Usage of the internet will only be allowed if it is work related. Personal usage of the internet will not be allowed, but only is permitted during break time.

Usage of the copy machines will only be allowed to use if printing or copying work related items. To get access to use, you must go to your administrator for approval.

If you have any questions please see your administrator.

Thanks for all your splendid work, team.

The Final Proposal

Crum’s Coffee Café

Phone 314.775.6308

  November 21, 2013

Mr. Lane Rick

City Council, Mayor

1700 N 6th Street

Desoto, MO 63020

Dear Mr. Lane Rick:

I would like to propose to open up coffee shop on Main Street in Desoto that will be a cozy, friendly place for locals to get their daily cup of joe. I interviewed a local who lives in Desoto and she said, “Any person considering opening a business will not choose the town of Desoto, but rather Hillsboro or Festus because nothing ever stays open here.” She is not the only local who feels this way. Many local businesses have been either bought out or shut down in this town, from either lack of knowledge on how to run a business or just not enough business. With Desoto’s population being 6,447, this cannot be the effect of the second reasoning. After creating a survey for those who live in Desoto and the surrounding areas, every person’s response thought it would be a great idea to have a local coffee shop in town.

There may be a resale shop, a fast food restaurant, or a local Wal-Mart, but where is the local coffee shop? Most locals want a place where they can start there day by sipping on a warm up of coffee while watching the cars go by or there is that student who wants to do their homework in a peaceful environment.  With this type of shop not being available, they resort to their home or drive thirty miles to find the next one. This town could be generating more profit, and bettering itself if there was coffee shop, considering three out of four people drink coffee in this town, according to my survey.

Crum’s coffee shop will give the town of Desoto generate profit and create great business by:

  • Being the only coffee shop in town.
  • Giving locals a place to hang out with family and friends.
  • Providing great coffee, food, and service.

There are a total of 100 million coffee drinkers in the United States, and 18 million dollars is spent on drinking coffee.

Crum’s Coffee is a café venture with an expected opening date in December of 2014 on 107 S Main Street in Desoto, Missouri. We will specialize in coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, and homemade pastries, soups, and sandwiches at a very reasonable price. There are no other shops that only serve coffee in Desoto, the closet being over thirty miles away. The target customers will be college students, and locals. There are currently no places in this town where this type of service is provided. We will be open Monday thru Friday from 6:00 am- 8:00pm, Saturdays 7:00am-10:00pm, and Sundays closed.

The costs of implementing our proposal are as follows:

Building:                    $200,000.00

Equipment:                  $4,000.000

Furnishings:                 $2,500.00

Sound System:            $1,000.00

Computer:                   $1,500.00

Coffee:                                   $1,000.00

Other assets:

Cups:                           $2,500.00

Total current assets:  $212,500.00

Accounts Payable (monthly):

Water:                         $200.00

Phone:                         $150.00

Electric:                       $500.00

Coffee Distributor:     $1,000.00

Advertising:                $500.00

Wages:                        $3,500.00

Total Liabilities:        $5,850.00

Crum’s Coffee Shop will not only be expected to bring in revenue for Desoto, but will also provide a great place for people of any age, ethnicity, and personality. In the United States coffee is the most consumed drink out on the market.

Please call me if you have any questions about opening up this Coffee Shop. If this proposal is acceptable, please sign and return a copy of the enclosed agreement with this letter.

Sincerely yours,

Megan Crum

Executive summary of Coffee Shop Survey

I chose to do my survey about opening up a coffee shop in Desoto. I collected twenty three responses for my survey from Facebook. The results turned out to be very pleasing and helpful. The main age range who took my survey were 18-25, and 40-65. Out of the twenty four people, there are only four people who do not drink coffee. The participants that do drink coffee like either hot, cold, cappuccinos, or Frappuccino’s. I would have each of these available to make. This would not be an issue considering my coffee shop would have tea, soda products, and food available for purchase. Fourteen out of twenty three people would rather drink coffee at home, than go to their local coffee shop. If the shop had Wi-Fi internet, those who would rather drink coffee at home might change their minds with having this free option. Not one person was opposed to having a local coffee shop, and everyone who took the survey knows two or more people who drink coffee in their local area. According to the survey most of them would visit in the morning, so I would definitely have a drive thru available. I have heard several complaints from people I know who wish some coffee shops would have drive thrus, because it is such an inconvenience to those who are in a hurry to get to work. There was 80.95% of people who would purchase food with their coffee, and 28.57% who would like to see a coffee shop not only in Desoto, but also in the surrounding areas such as Festus, Hillsboro, and Crystal City. With these results I believe there is great potential to opening up a coffee shop in Desoto.
